A woman is seriously injured in hospital after being hit by a bus in south-east London.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after the 48-year-old was struck outside Peckham Rye station.

She remains in hospital with serious leg injuries after the incident, at around 1.30pm on Sunday.

The driver of the route 78 bus stopped at the scene and has not been arrested, police said.

Detective Matt Austin said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw this collision, or the event leading up to or immediately after the collision to contact police."
