Woman on mobility scooter in critical condition after south London van crash

A pensioner was today fighting for her life after being hit by a van while riding her mobility scooter in south London.

The 69-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after the collision in Bermondsey on Friday.

The incident took place at the junction of St James Road and Jamaica Road at about 12.30pm.

One witness said it looked "really, really bad" and added that the scooter was left underneath the van after the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8285 1574.

The van driver stopped at the scene and no arrests were made.
