Westminster Bridge fire: Coach blaze causes travel misery for motorists

A coach caught fire on Westminster Bridge bringing traffic to a standstill.

The river crossing was closed to traffic after the vehicle caught alight on Friday morning.

London Fire Brigade said it sent six firefighters and a fire engine to the scene at about 9.45am.

Photos taken from the bridge showed smoke pouring from beneath the bus.

The blaze was brought under control about 45 minutes later and nobody is thought to have been injured.

Transport for London and LFB advised motorists to avoid the area.
