A highly visible fire broke out at a construction site near Victoria Station, with black plumes of smoke seen from miles away.

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled the blaze in a building under construction on Wilton Road.

Waste material on the seventh floor was alight, London Fire Brigade said.

A spokesperson told the Standard that the fire is under control and was highly visible but not large.

There were no reports of injuries or evacuations. The blaze was on the top floor of the building.

The Brigade received 12 calls to the blaze just after 12.30pm on Tuesday.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
