Police have issued an urgent appeal after a man disappeared during a fishing trip to a lake in east London.

Christopher Knowles, 43, was last seen at 11.30am on Friday near a lake at The Chase in Rush Green, Romford.

He has not been spotted since or made any contact with friends or family.

His phone and bank card have also not been used since then, Scotland Yard said.

A Met Police statement added: "His disappearance is out of character and there are growing concerns for his welfare."

No further sightings have been made and the force is now appealing for public support in tracing him.

Mr Knowles is described as stocky and around 5ft 8ins tall.

He was wearing black trousers along with blue and white trainers when he went missing.

Anyone with information is asked to call either 101, Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or Missing People on 116 000.
