A Transport for London worker is counting down the days until the new series of Doctor Who arrives with witty signs for commuters.

Timelord: the sign at Tufnell Park station (Picture: @trixie)

This morning a cartoon of the Doctor appeared on a service information sign bearing the date August 23 – the date when the next series starring Peter Capaldi as the Time Lord will be screened.

A quote, taken from Dr Who writer Steven Moffat, on the sign read: “When they made this particular hero they didn’t give him a gun they gave him a screwdriver to fix things.”

It continued: “And they didn’t give him a superpower or pointy ears or a heat ray. They gave him an extra heart.”

And it is not the first time the Dr Who fanatic has scrawled tributes to the Time Lord and his tardis on TfL signs.

Earlier this year a quote from series three, starring David Tenant as the Doctor, appeared with a doodle of the Tardis.

The Dr Who fanatic also celebrated the programme’s 50 birthday last November with a reassurance there were no “yeti on the underground.”
