A man has died after being hit by a Tube train in south London.

London Ambulance Service confirmed the man was pronounced dead after being hit by Northern line service just before 8am on Sunday.

London’s Air Ambulance was also called to the scene.

The Northern line was suspended between Stockwell and Morden while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Dramatic images posted on social media showed police, ambulance and fire crews outside the station which was evacuated.

An LAS spokesman said: “We were called at 7.55am to reports of a person hit by a train.

“Sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A spokesman for British Transport Police added that the death was not being treated as suspicious and said a file had been prepared for the coroner.
