Suspected human remains found at recycling centre in Greenwich
Suspected human remains have been found at a recycling centre in south London.
Police were called to the Greenwich Reuse and Recycling Centre in Nathan Way, Thamesmead, at 11am on Tuesday to reports of human remains discovered at the facility.
Staff reported finding the remains, Scotland Yard said.
A forensic scene was put in place as police officers carried out further searches of rubbish. Forensic specialists have been requested in order to assess the remains.
The Sun quotes a source as saying staff were “sifting through waste and came across a bin bag with the remains inside. Apparently there was a jawbone with some teeth and a leg bone.”
Police said: “Police are dealing after suspected human remains were found in Greenwich.
“Officers were called at 11am on Tuesday, 21 May to a waste facility in Nathan Way. Staff at the facility had reported finding the remains.”
No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
