A group of protesters have stormed St Pancras station during a planned demonstration held as a show of support towards refugees.

Violence broke out at the Eurostar station at around 6pm on Saturday as demonstrators smashed their way through a police barrier before officers were hurled with missiles including smoke bombs.

Footage shows about 100 protesters break through police resistance to enter Eurostar station. The chaos took place as a group of No Border campaigners took part in a protest to call for an end to immigration controls.

No arrests were made.

Scotland Yard said: "Some protesters began to throw items at police, including smoke bombs.

"These protesters were ejected from the station and later dispersed from the area."

A BTP spokesman said demonstrators arrived at the station around 6pm.

"Around this time a number of other individuals arrived and caused disorder and missiles including smoke bombs were thrown at police officers," he said.

"This group was dispersed and officers remain at the station."

Joel Benjamin wrote on Twitter: "Utter carnage at Kings Cross station for migrants demo. Flares, Cops going in batons drawn."

Pro-refugee demonstrators were armed with placards calling for the closure of Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre.
