A “thrill-seeking” schoolboy was today in a serious condition in hospital after plunging 60ft through the glazed roof of a London bus depot.

Drivers were alerted by the sound of shattering glass as the 12-year-old fell onto the concrete floor of the garage in Wells Road, opposite Shepherd’s Bush market in west London at 5.30pm last night.

The boy, who has not been named, was rushed ambulance to St George’s Hospital where he was being treated for serious head injuries.

A witness said the boy was conscious and was able to respond to paramedics instructions to move his arms and legs.

One neighbour, whose flat overlooks the depot, said: “He must have just been clowning around up there. But I can’t work out how he got up on the roof - he’s a little Spiderman.”

The garage, which is owned and run by transport firm London United, remained open in the aftermath of last night’s incident.

Neighbours told the Standard the same boy had been rescued from the roof earlier this month after getting stuck.

A mother of two teenagers said: “He started screaming and I went to the window and he looked like he was in trouble. When police came he jumped down onto the flat roof below.

“He apparently told the police he’d been chased up there by an older boy. But to me, he looked like he was looking for trouble.”

The boy is thought to be around 12, of a slim build, tall for his age and of Asian or Middle Eastern origin.

A spokesman for London United said: “We are working closely with the police to assist them with their investigation.”

Officers on board the MPS helicopter carried out a aerial search of the rooftop for any other youths.
