Salt Bae customer claims staff member refused £10 tip

6 December 2021

A diner has claimed staff turned down a £10 tip at Salt Bae’s Knightsbridge restaurant in a recent Trip Advisor review with a one-star rating.

Restaurant Nusr-Et, by Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe, has made headlines recently as people flocked to the swanky eaterie to try the £1,450 steak covered in gold.

Among the sea of delighted diners, one dismayed customer said they were shocked when a tip of £10 was declined by a member of staff, who “shook their head” and refused to take it.

Matthew Hynes wrote on Trip Advisor: “The only reason we came here was to prove that its popular because of the media hype.

“Given only 30 minutes to finish the meal with a service that can only ne described as robotic and false. The steak had little flavour and we’ve had better steaks at Westherspoons on steak day !

“To top it off we got asked if a tip is possible by the server. When we offered £10 they refused it and shook their head. Keep up the great act Salt Bae.”

Representatives of Nusr-Et have been contacted for a comment.

The chef has seen celebrities from the likes of footballer Wayne Rooney and reality star Gemma Collins eat at his London steakhouse.
