Running group teaches self-defence to joggers

Attack-Run founders believe runners should be equipped with self-defence skills

A running group is set to teach joggers self-defence so they can protect themselves while running alone.

Attack-Run will see runners "ambushed" by actors along pre-planned routes in the capital forcing them to defend themselves.

Joggers will be thrown into real life scenarios around London's parks and estates during the day and night.

The initiative started as a university project for Central Saint Martins students, 21-year-old Conrad Haddaway and Sherwin Teo, 25, in a bid to create a safer environment for runners.

Mr Haddaway told the Standard: “This project was created out of passion. We really think that educating and reinvesting back into our communities can help lower attack rates.”

The pilot launches in the capital next month and the pair have set their sights on rolling the scheme out across the world.
