The London hotel where England’s World Cup winning team celebrated their triumph 50 years ago is hosting a month of commemoration to mark the famous win.

The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington has teamed up with the Bobby Moore Fund set up by his widow Stephanie to dedicate a pop-up lounge to the former England captain.

She set up the charity which funds research into bowel cancer after the premature death of the former West Ham defender at the age of 51 in 1993.

There will be a collection of memorabilia on display in the lounge, including photos of the victorious players dining at the hotel in 1966.

The lounge will be open until the end of this month. A raffle and online silent auction being conducted through the month aims to raise £50,000.

The five highest bidders will get the chance to hold the Jules Rimet trophy next to Sir Geoff Hurst, the hat-trick hero in the 4-2 victory over West Germany.

On July 29 the trophy will also go on display for the day.
