Residents flee as fire takes hold of Southwark flats

 

Twenty south London residents were forced to flee their homes as a fire took hold of a block of flats in Southwark.

The five-storey building on the Peabody Estate, Southwark Street, was in engulfed in flames last night, with a man and a woman treated for smoke inhalation.

The blaze started at around 21.40.

Investigators from the Fire Service said the cause of the fire was not yet known.
