An investigation has been launched after heroin was seized on a flight from Pakistan after it landed at Heathrow Airport.

No arrests were made after the drugs were found on board the London-bound flight by Border Force officers.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) is probing the incident after officers found a quantity of the Class A substance on Monday.

An NCA spokeswoman said: “National Crime Agency officers are investigating following the seizure of a quantity of heroin, found by Border Force officers on board a flight from Pakistan at Heathrow on Monday May 15.

“No arrests have been made, enquiries are ongoing.”

The NCA said it could not confirm the airline involved, however Pakistan International Airlines told the Evening Standard that 14 of its crew members were detained after its flight PK-785 from Islamabad to London arrived on Monday afternoon.

A spokesman for Pakistan International Airlines told the Evening Standard: "Fourteen crew were detained for two to three hours.

"They had to wait for clearance and were shifted to a hotel."

The spokesman said the firm did not have any information about why the crew was detained.
