Police probe 'unexplained' death of woman at Battersea flat

An elderly woman has died at a flat in south west London.

Police raced to the scene and an air ambulance was scrambled after reports of an injured woman in her 70s at a home in Battersea.

Paramedics and police were called at just after 2.20pm on Wednesday but the pensioner was pronounced dead at the home on Charlotte Despard Avenue at 3pm.

Her death is as yet unexplained, a Met Police spokesman said.

Photos from the scene show an air ambulance landing near to the Doddington Estate and several police cars and ambulances parked near to the entrance of Francis Chichester Way.

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade were also at the scene.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 3pm on Wednesday.

Her next of kin have been told and a post mortem examination will be carried out.

No arrests have yet been made.
