Police launch appeal to find mother after foetus is found in an east London cemetery

Detectives have launched an appeal to find a woman after a foetus was found in a cemetery in Tower Hamlets.

The foetus, which is believed to be around 10 to 12 weeks gestation, was found in Tower Hamlets Cemetery in Hamlets Way at 12.35pm on Wednesday.

Police are concerned about the welfare of the mother and are appealing for her to contact officers in order to receive necessary medical treatment.

The discovery of the foetus is currently being officially treated as "unexplained".
