Police are hunting a burglar who stole cash and ornaments from the south London home of an 80-year-old Parkinson's sufferer.

The thief broke into the woman's house in Coe Avenue, South Norwood several times in recent weeks, Scotland Yard said.

Detectives today appealed for anyone who recognises a person seen on CCTV footage at the house to speak to them.

In the videos, the suspect is shown rifling through a bag next to a wheelchair and inspecting items on the floor.

Detective Constable Sheree Yates, from Croydon CID, who is leading the investigation, said the victim, who also suffers from dementia, had been left "upset and distressed" by the burglaries.

She said: "We are hopeful that somebody in the area might have seen something that could help us in our enquiries, or someone may recognise the person on the CCTV footage.”

Anyone with information can contact Croydon CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
