Police fears for man who disappeared after going for Starbucks in Kensington

Police are growing increasingly concerned for a man with learning difficulties who disappeared after leaving a Starbucks in Kensington five days ago.

Hamad Abdulla, 26, a Qatari national, was in London with his mother and was due to have an operation at one of the capital’s hospitals.

He was in a Starbucks in Sainsbury’s supermarket on the Cromwell Road on Friday June 14 when he got into conversation with a man on a laptop at an adjoining table.

His mother left him briefly but when she returned he had gone.

CCTV cameras show him leaving the supermarket and walking towards along Cromwell Road towards the Natural History Museum.

He has not been seen since and police say he has no money or phone and has no knowledge of London.

Mr Abdulla suffered a serious brain injury in a fall several years ago and needs constant care and supervision. He also suffers from epilepsy.

Detectives are trying to trace the man who was seen talking to him in Arabic. He is described as black, in his late 40s, slim build, about 5’8” with a moustache and short dark gelled hair.

Det Insp Jason Fitzpatrick, from Kensington and Chelsea CID, said: “I am getting really worried about what has happened to Hamad. We know that he had no phone, or money on him. He doesn’t know his way round London, nor does he have any friends here.

“His mother is suffering a great deal of distress, and I’d like to appeal on her behalf as well. If you were the man Hamad was chatting to in Starbucks please get in touch with us, we are hoping he may have given you a clue as to where he was headed.

“The Cromwell Road would have been really busy at that time on a Friday night, and if you saw Hamad there or have seen him since then we need to hear from you.”

Hamad is described as a dark skinned Arabic man, 6ft 4ins tall with a full black beard. He was wearing a brown beanie hat, a dark coloured heavy coat with a zip up top and white jogging bottoms.

Anyone who may have seen Hamid should call CID officers at Notting Hill police station on 020 8246 0217.
