A police van smashed into the TV studio where X Factor is filmed to prevent a getaway car carrying suspected bank robbers from escaping.

Two men were arrested for an attempted cash-in-transit robbery of the HSBC bank in Wembley Park Road, north-west London, at 10.40am this morning.

Officers from the Metropolitan Flying Squad crashed into railings outside Fountain Studios, where the likes of X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and The Cube are filmed, to stop the car carrying the men from fleeing the scene.

The men have been taken to a north London police station for questioning.

No-one was injured.

Lighting technician Tim Roberts, who witnessed the incident, said: “A car had crashed into the railings of the Fountain Studios, opposite the bank, where X Factor is filmed. Looked nasty.”

Wembley Park Road remains closed following the incident and police cordons have been placed outside the bank.
