A pensioner has died following a collision with a lorry on Peckham High Street in south London.

Metropolitan Police officers are appealing for more information after the pedestrian’s death just after 3.35pm on Wednesday.

The man, aged 66, died on the high street near the junction with Peckham Hill Street despite best efforts from London’s Air Ambulance and emergency services.

His next of kin has been informed.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene, the Met said in an update on Thursday. There have been no arrests.

Officers want to speak to anyone who was at the scene, and in particular, anyone who was driving in the area and has dash-cam footage.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 020 8285 1574, or contact via Twitter @MetCC. Please quote reference CAD 4956/23Aug.

The fatal collision comes less than a fortnight after a cyclist died on Battersea Bridge following a collision with a lorry.

A local woman, aged 27, died on the bridge, which does not have cycle lanes, on the morning of August 11.

The lorry driver did not stop at the scene but was tracked down by officers in Fulham.
