A lovestruck Parisian has raised the stakes for suitors across London by proposing to his girlfriend in a unique graffiti tag.
The visitor, known to the graffiti artist only as Abdou, approached Candie Bandit while she was working on a piece in east London and asked if she could put his matrimonial request in writing.
Candie Bandit, who has asked for her real name to be withheld "due to the questionable legality of graffiti", was only too happy to oblige - painting the proposal in huge glittery letters.
"The gesture was so sweet, I couldn't refuse," she said.
"I was painting this piece outside Shoreditch Overground when a young Parisian man excitedly told me he was watching me paint and had come up with this mad idea: Would I be willing to help him propose?
"We swapped numbers and I got him to text me what he wanted me to write on the wall."
She finished the piece over two nights so she wouldn't be disturbed.
"The piece was designed by me in my trademark style," Candie Bandit told the Standard. "The only meeting I had with the groom-to-be was when he spoke with me the previous day - we exchanged a few text messages but I was not there when he dropped the question."
It seems the writing is on the wall for Abdou's life as a bachelor.
"She couldn't say no," he told Candie Bandit in a text, seen by the Standard, before returning to Paris.
"Thank you sooooo much."
