Online map of London's parks now covers the whole city

An online map of London parks has been expanded across the capital.

'Parklife London', first launched in 12 inner London boroughs, has now been extended to 20 boroughs across the capital covering 2,300 parks.

The app registers your location and produces information about parks in your vicinity.

It gives people the chance to find a hidden gem for a picnic, a work-out or discover a community garden project to immerse themselves in.

The guide was a product of the Growing Localities’ programme under the City of London Corporation’s charity, City Bridge Trust.

David Farnsworth, the charity's chief grants officer, said he wants it to become the capital's "green trip adviser".

"I really hope that Londoners will put this tool to good use and share their hidden green gems with others," he added.

London is one of the greenest cities in the world, with 35,000 acres of public parks, woodlands and gardens - equating to 40 per cent of the capital's surface area being publicly accessible green space.
