Amazing first-person view captures stunning shots of London as Greenpeace protesters scale Nelson's Column

Mark Chandler19 April 2016

Greenpeace activists who climbed Nelson’s Column captured incredible views of London from the top.

The pair used a large ladder to reach the base of the Trafalgar Square monument on Monday, before climbing to the summit and fitting Nelson with a face mask as part of an anti-pollution protest.

While they were up there, the protesters filmed a rarely-seen view of the city from one of its most famous landmarks.

The footage starts with a bird’s eye view of the square’s fountains with the National Gallery looming in front of the capital’s buildings.

After a few seconds, the camera spins around, showing the London Eye standing tall against the calm early morning sky.

Eight people were arrested yesterday after protests saw a string of London statues fitted with masks.
