Mo Farah 'furious' after drunk driver ploughs into his wife's car in US

A drunk hit-and-run driver smashed into the family car driven by Olympic hero Mo Farah’s wife.

Tania Farah was rammed from behind and her husband - who won British gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m at London 2012 - was left furious and said he wanted to “chase” the culprit.

The star, from Hounslow, later tweeted a photograph of the offending black BMW’s caved-in bonnet.

He wrote: “Drunk driver smashed in back of my wife’s car..!! And then run off..!! Wish I was there to chase them..!!!”

It happened near to the family’s home in Portland, Oregon, where they relocated for Farah to work with trainer Alberto Salazar.

Police later tracked down the driver and Farah told his 800,000 followers: “Wife is ok..!! Police called and said they arrested the driver..!! Happy days.”

The mother-of-three, who last year gave birth two twin girls, was left shaken by the smash but otherwise unhurt.

Their eight-month-old girls, Aisha and Amani, and Farah’s step daughter, Rihanna, eight, were not thought to have been in the car with their mother at the time.

Last month, Farah, 30, told how he felt Oregon was now the family’s “permanent” base as he concentrates on running longer distances.

He said: “I feel quite at home in Portland and life is very easy.”

Farah is due to run the first half of the London Marathon on April 21 .

He is expected to run the full marathon next year as he decides which event to compete in at Rio 2016.

In February, he won the Rock ’n’ Roll New Orleans Half Marathon in a British record time of 60.59mins.
