Melanie Sykes was cautioned for an assault on her roofer husband after police were called to her Hampstead home last night.

The television star was reportedly led from her flat in handcuffs after police were called by her 27-year-old husband Jack Cockings.

Ms Sykes,43, was questioned by officers and is said to have spent a night in the cells despite admitting the assault.

Her husband, who the model married in May after he wooed her on Twitter, did not require treatment in hospital after the attack.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 21.45 on Tuesday night to a residential address in Hampstead following reports of an assault.

"A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault and taken to a North London police station.

"She has since been given a caution for common assault. The male victim did not required hospital treatment."

In a report of the arrest, the Mail Online added that guests at the ceremony included TV presenters Eamonn Holmes and Des O'Connor, with whom she used to present the afternoon chat show, Today with Des and Mel.
