A man's body has been recovered from the River Thames at Chelsea Harbour Pier.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service were called to Thames Path at 8.27am on Thursday, December 10, after a member of the public saw a body in the water.

A crew from Tower RNLI was called and a body of a man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, was recovered from the river 15 minutes later.

An RNLI spokesman said: "The lifeboat arrived and the crew found a deceased man who was caught against a river pylon.

"It was agreed in the circumstances that the police would recover the body and the lifeboat was stood down."

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said the coroner had been advised of the discovery and said the circumstrances surrounding the death were currently unclear.

Thames Clipper Services were unable to call at Chelsea Harbour Pier while emergency services attended.
