A man left with double vision and “difficulty getting his words out” after being hit in the head by a sliding door at the BT Tower is suing British Telecom for £100,000.

Howard Sherman, 54, of Northwood, said in papers filed with the High Court that he was leaving the tower in October 2009 when a set of electronic doors closed on him, striking him on the side of his head.

He said that he suffered a severe headache and the next day was unable to complete a conference call because he found he was using the wrong words.

Two days later, he spent the night in hospital for neurological tests and has continued to suffer headaches, double vision, confusion, memory loss, tiredness, frustration and fragility.

Mr Sherman, a finance officer with a bio-technology company, is claiming £100,000 for injuries and losses.
