A man suffered severe head injuries after being hit by a car on a major west London road today.

The pedestrian was on Uxbridge Road, next to Shepherds Bush Green, when the accident happened at just before 11.30am.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said the man was seriously injured but that his condition had been stabilised.

He said: “An air ambulance doctor treated him (the pedestrian) at the scene before he was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. His condition is serious but stable.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said that no arrests had been made following the collision which injured the man, believed to be aged between 30 and 40.

Cheryl Germain, 45, was passing on a Christmas shopping trip when she saw the scene.

She said: “The man was laying on the ground and there was loads of blood coming from his head. It was really shocking and stomach churning I just hope he will be ok. I live near Shepherds Bush Green and there are loads of accidents there.”

A police cordon thrown up around Shepherds Bush Green and an accident investigation was underway.
