A man has died after being found on fire in a park in East Ham.

Police have launched an investigation after the man, who has not been identified, was discovered in Central Park at 2.20am on Thursday.

Officers and paramedics attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the Met Police said.

Enquiries to confirm his identity and inform his next of kin are still ongoing.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “At this early stage, the death is being treated as unexplained while the circumstances of his death are investigated.

“A crime scene remains in place and Central Park remains closed at this time.

“Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 657/2June.”
