Sculptors at Madame Tussauds are eagerly awaiting the US election result as candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump go head-to-head in wax.

Staff at the London waxworks have spent six months making the two clay sculptures of both candidates, but only one will become a wax figure.

The west London attraction's sculptors are preparing ahead of election day tomorrow before knowing which clay sculpture to use for the final waxwork of the 45th president.

They will set to work on the wax figure as soon as the results are in.

Anticipation: Staff at the waxworks are eagerly awaiting the result and work will start soon after.

The styling team are already practising hard to create Trump’s famous hairstyle.

2016 is the first time in Madame Tussauds’ history that both candidates have already had wax figures made of them – with Clinton’s in 2006 and Trump’s in 1997 on show in the US.

Lifelike: Sculptors and stylists at the west London waxworks have been practising - including how to create Trump's hairstyle.

Edward Fuller, general manager of Madame Tussauds London. said: "Anyone and everyone is discussing the race to The White House right now; it’s the most scrutinised US election in recent memory.

“With polarising candidates at the forefront, it’s certainly an interesting time for us to be making a figure of a new President of the United States.

“To ensure it is ready in time for Inauguration Day next year, the talented studios team have created two clay sculpts ready to make the winning candidate as soon as the results are in.”

Principal sculptor at the attraction, Stephen Mansfield, who worked on Mrs Clinton’s previous figure, commented: “Knowing how many eyes are diligently watching this election, has made these sculptures even more exciting to work on than usual. I cannot wait to see which candidate will be victorious and who we’ll get to make a wax figure of.”

The waxworks attractions in New York, Orlando, and Washington D.C. will also be creating a new figure upon his or her inauguration.
