Londoners wake to spectacular red, pink and orange sunrise

Londoners were this morning treated to a spectacular sunrise which turned the skies above some of the city’s best-known landmarks dramatic shades of red, pink and orange.

Big Ben looked even more impressive set against a stunning purple and pink backdrop, while The London Eye looked dramatic lit up by the orange sky.

The sunrise comes hours before the city is set to be hit with heavy rain and strong gales as the snow storm that brought chaos to east coast of America hits the UK.

“Persistent” rain was forecast for London this afternoon, with Scotland and the north set for the main brunt of the bad weather.
