The Met Office has issued weather warnings for London as forecasters said there is a "high risk" of snow in the capital.

After another mild day on Wednesday, temperatures are expected to plummet overnight and it will feel a lot colder on Thursday morning.

Snow is expected to fall after midday when a band of rain coming from across the channel hits the cold air.

A Met Office forecaster told the Standard: “The main concern for Thursday is the risk of snow.

"Initially we were uncertain that it would happen but now it is looking pretty likely.
