London weather: Forget the heat, the rain is back

Londoners were caught in torrential rain today as the heavens opened during morning rush-hour.

After one of the hottest days of the year yesterday, with 34C recorded at Heathrow Airport, temperatures were only expected to reach a more normal 24C in the capital this afternoon.

There is a similar picture for the weekend with temperatures of up to 23C in Greater London tomorrow and slightly lower on Sunday.

Experts say the cooler weather will continue into next week, with heavy rain on Monday.
