Londoners hoping for another warm weekend look set to be disappointed with cloudy weather and cooler temperatures expected.

Forecasters say the sky will remain gloomy and overcast with some outbreaks of rain across the capital from Friday evening until Sunday.

Temperatures are predicted to remain at around 11C or 12C for much of the weekend across London and the south-east.

Sunday looks set to be the better day of the weekend with some sunshine breaking through the clouds.

Last weekend, London enjoyed temperatures of up to 18C, making the city warmer than Madrid and on a par with Barcelona.

Met Office spokeswoman Lindsay Mears said: “It will be cloudy throughout this weekend but on Sunday we can expect some sunny intervals.

“Temperatures are not looking too bad for the time of year at around 11C and maybe slightly higher for central London.

“There will be odd, sharp showers from time to time. It’s typical April weather.”
