A teenager has described how she screamed in terror after a fox attacked her as she went jogging.

Clare Laudy, 17, said the animal leapt at her, tried to bite her leg and tore her leggings during her run in Epsom. She fought it off and is now backing calls for a cull of foxes following a spate of attacks, including one on a baby in Bromley last week.

Miss Laudy, a pupil at City of London Freeman’s School in Ashtead, said: “The fox leapt at me out of nowhere and was biting my leg. I shouted and it let go but did not run off. It kept trying to chase me and I shouted to make it go away.

"I was really shaken up and I’m still really terrified of foxes. If it’s dark and I’m walking down roads I get really scared.”

She was left with scratches to her leg following the 8pm attack. A relative phoned the council but was told there was nothing it could do.

“Foxes should be culled,” said Miss Laudy. “Things like this are happening more often. It’s getting out of hand.”

Hayley Cawley, 28, today appeared on ITV’s Daybreak with five-week-old son Dennie, heavily-bandaged after he was savaged in the Bromley fox attack. He was cradled by father Paul Dolan.

Ms Cawley vowed that her family will never to return to the house.
