Leyton crash: Young man, 21, dies after being struck by bus in busy east London street

A young man has died after being struck by a bus in a busy east London street.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, shortly after 8pm on Wednesday.

The pedestrian, aged 21, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.25pm. His next-of-kin have been informed.

The driver of the bus stopped and is assisting police with their enquiries.

The road was closed and buses were on diversion following the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the crash at the road's junction with Argyl Way.

No arrests have been made.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Officers from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command (RTPC) are leading the investigation, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward; in particular those who saw what took place and motorists who may have dash-cam footage.”
