An elderly woman was taken to hospital on Monday afternoon after her car overturned in north-west London, trapping her inside.

Police said they received six 999 calls about the woman’s crash, which happened in Brent Street, Hendon.

Firefighters were scrambled at about 3.25pm and cut the woman free before medics took over. The victim, whose exact age could not be immediately established, was taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

London Fire Brigade said two cars were involved.

Brent Street was shut into the evening rush hour near the junction with Queen’s Road, and bus routes 183 and 240 were diverted around the crash site.
