A female cyclist has been filmed chasing a van and ripping the wing mirror off in an apparent rage after a man in the passenger seat made a string of sexist remarks towards her.
The footage, filmed on a GoPro attached to a moped rider’s helmet, shows a grey van pull up beside the cyclist at traffic light on Tottenham Court Road.
It shows the passenger leaning out of the window and ask the young woman if she is “alright” before saying: “Want my number?” in the video posted on Facebook.
She then slaps the side of the vehicle, forcing the wing mirror to fold in.
The man says: “Woah, woah don’t be like that” before the woman flips him her middle finger and hits the van again.
The woman’s angry backlash prompts the man to goad her further.
He added: “That’s not very ladylike is it?
“Oi, what charm school did you go to, ey? You wanna tell your mum and dad to get your f***ing money back.”
The cyclists demands to be left alone but the man retorts: “Shut up you old dog. You on your period?”
He then asks for the woman’s phone number and suggests they go for a drink.
Following the row the lights turn green and in an unexpected turn of events the cyclist speeds after the van.
As the driver parks up, she grabs the opportunity to yank a wing mirror from the vehicle and hurl it on to the floor before pedalling off.
Still following, the motorcyclist turns to the driver and says: “That’s exactly what you deserve you scum.”
However, there were fears today that the video could actually be a fake.
The footage, apparently shot on Tottenham Court Rd has been viewed more than 10 million times and picked-up by international news organisations after it was posted on the Viral Thread Facebook page.
However social media company Jungle Creations, who are licensing the footage for £600 a time, said they had no way of knowing if it really happened or if it was a stunt.
The company bills itself as the “6th biggest media company in the world and claims to “create and curate the best content on the internet.”
Jungle Creations co-founder Paul Beiboer denied his company created the video and said they were acting for an anonymous third party.
He said: “We couldn’t verify its authenticity, but we don’t think it’s fake.”
