A former world triathlon champion has shared footage online of the moment a thief stole her prized bicycle from an office in south west London.

Chrissie Wellington, 37, who has won the World Ironman championships four times, discovered her black-and-white Cannondale Slice had been taken from the building in Oakcroft Road, Chessington, on Sunday night.

The bike, which is worth several thousand pounds, helped the athlete to victory in 2011.

It has HED cycling clincher wheels (90mm/40mm), a small hibiscus flower and an Ironman gold sticker.

Ms Wellington slammed the "scumbags" responsible for the theft on Twitter as she posted CCTV footage of the crime.

She said the bike had "huge sentimental value" as she appealed for help in tracking it down.

She said: "Scumbags have stolen my World Champ 2011 winning @RideCannondale Slice from an office in London. More later but please keep eyes open."

After watching the footage for the first time, she tweeted: "Just seen the CCTV. Can't believe the thief had the audacity to steal and then ride away on MY bike."

Police have confirmed they are investigating.
