Teenagers in the capital are to get lessons in working in the music business from the guitar band Foals and their manager Peter Mensch.

The Foals will host the careers talk as part of a music education drive by the Royal Albert Hall.

Dozens of music students from Islington and Haringey will get the chance to join a workshop which will be followed by a live session.Yannis Philippakis, lead singer of Foals, said: “I would have loved a similar opportunity when I was younger.”

Mensch, the husband of former MP Louise Mensch, was managing AC/DC by the age of 26 and also now manages Metallica.

He said: “I tapped mentors for help and advice from day one — so I’ll be glad to spend my 60th birthday at the Royal Albert Hall talking to young people who want to do the same.”
