Around 125 firefighters spent nearly 12 hours tackling a huge blaze at a warehouse in Ilford - finally bringing it under control on Thursday morning.

Twenty fire engines were called to Fowler Road shortly after 9pm on Wednesday - where they found three units alight.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Photos and video taken at the height of the fire shows flames and huge quantities of smoke billowing high into the air.

The two-storey warehouse is described as “mixed use”.

Fire crews from Romford, Dagenham, Ilford, Woodford and other nearby stations tackled the inferno throughout the night, while residents were advised to keep their windows and doors shut due to smoke.

The fire was under control by about 8.40am on Thursday.

There are no reports of any injuries.

London Fire Brigade investigators have begun a probe into the cause of the fire, which is expected to continue throughout Thursday.
