These stunning images rescued from the scrapheap show famous London landmarks captured in full 1960s splendour.
The retro photos of Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park Corner were taken by US tourist Gary Nordquist while on a trip to the capital in sunny weather during 1965.
The images were discovered and published online years later by Mr Nordquist’s son-in-law, who lives in Seattle, who saved them from the bin.
He said he was given the photos by his father-in-law after "protesting about him wanting to just throw them away".
Several Piccadilly Circus shots show adverts for products including cigarettes, Gordon’s gin, Martell brandy, Max Factor make up and Morris Motors cars.
The London Pavilion, on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Coventry Street, displays a huge billboard for the world premiere of The Beatles second film, Help!
The premiere was held at the theatre, which is now part of the Trocadero Centre and houses Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum, in July 1965 and was attended by Princess Margaret, the Queen’s sister.
Other signs advertise CocaCola, BP, Guinness and Skol lager.
Also included in the series is a photo The Old Curiosity Shop antique store in Holborn, which is thought to be the inspiration for Charles Dickens’ novel of the same name and took its name after the book was published.
Other photos taken on a sunny day at Hyde Park corner show speakers holding signs, standing on soap boxes and speaking in front of listening crowds.
