Sadiq Khan: Mayor of London to pay tribute to Westminster terror victims
Alex Lentati

Sadiq Khan will lay a wreath in memory of those who died in the Westminster terror attacks ahead of England’s World Cup qualifying match against Lithuania.

The Mayor of London will pay his respects among the crowd at Wembley in a minute’s silence before the fixture on Sunday.

He will be joined in the centre circle by FA chairman Greg Clarke, Acting Met Commissioner Craig Mackey and Karen Bradley, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

All four will lay wreaths for four victims of Wednesday’s horrific attack in which lone terrorist Khalid Masood ploughed into pedestrians before fatally stabbing a police officer.

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed there will be heightened security for the fixture against Lithuania at Wembley on Sunday.

Mr Khan, said: “As football fans, we will stand together at Wembley to remember those who were killed or injured in Wednesday’s horrific attack to send a message around the world - that Londoners will never be cowed by terrorism.

“Those killed and injured included people from every corner of the world.

“It’s fitting we honour them tonight at Wembley – our national football stadium – to signify our unity as a city and as a country.”

Kurt Cochran, Aysha Frade and Leslie Rhodes all died in the attack on Westminster Bridge, before the assailant killed PC Keith Palmer at the gates of Parliament.
