Design’s top prize for Toyo Ito who created angular pavilion for Serpentine Gallery

The man who created an angular pavilion for the Serpentine Gallery in 2002 has won architecture’s top prize for his overall work.

Toyo Ito, 71, was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is often described as the architectural equivalent of the Nobel Prize.

Previous Pritzker winners include the Shard’s creator Renzo Piano.
