Teenager stabbed to death after violence erupts at ‘Snapchat party’

An 18-year-old was stabbed and killed on the steps of a Hindu temple in Enfield after a private party publicised on Snapchat raged out of control has been named as Joao Gomes.

Two other teenagers, aged 17 and 19, were left with serious injuries as violence flared among more than 100 youths, some as young as 12, who spilled out into the streets at 10.30pm on Saturday.

All three were taken hospital where the 18-year-old was pronounced dead at 11.41pm, becoming the 13th person killed on the capital’s streets in three weeks.

The killing came six hours after Brenton Roper, 41, was chased, shot and stabbed to death in a daylight “hit” yards from his home in Bow, east London.

Spurs legends bid farewell to White Hart Lane

Spurs have played 2533 matches at the venue, winning 1472 of them. Demolition work on the ground will start from Monday.

The club will spend a minimum of one season at Wembley Stadium before returning to north London and their new 61,599-capacity home.

Adeel Akhtar beat Benedict Cumberbatch, James Nesbitt and Babour Ceesay to be named Best Actor for his role in Murdered by My Father, while Joanna Lumley won the coveted BAFTA Fellowship.

Louis Theroux presented the BAFTA Special Award to documentary-maker and Storyville creator Nick Fraser, describing him as a “creative risk-taker.”

Vince Cable predicts emergence of new centre left party after Tory landslide

A new centre left, pro-business party could emerge in the event of a heavy defeat for Labour in the General Election, Sir Vince Cable has predicted.

The Liberal Democrat former Business Secretary said a landslide victory for Theresa May’s Conservatives would pave the way for conversations about the formation of a new political party.

Sir Vince, who is hoping to regain his former seat in Twickenham, said there would be a period of “blood-letting” in Labour if the party suffers the heavy losses predicted.

There has been speculation a new party could be set up after the General Election amid rumours up to 100 MPs could be plotting to form a breakaway group.
