A cyclist who died after a collision with a lorry in south London has been named as a top physiotherapist at King's College Hospital.

Esther Hartsilver, 32, was killed in the horror crash at Denmark Hill, with the junction of Orpheus Street, during morning rush hour yesterday.

She was taken to King's College Hospital, around 100 metres from the scene, in an ambulance but died of her injuries later that afternoon.

Ms Hartsilver had been working as an expert pelvic health specialist at the hospital for almost a year.

She also previously worked at Guys and St Thomas’ hospital, Chelsea and Westminster hospital and The Portland Hospital, having studied at the University of Manchester.

Tributes have been paid to Ms Hartsilver by her colleagues.

A statement from King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “We have lost a dear and respected colleague. The thoughts of everyone at King’s are with Esther’s family.”

Ms Hartsilver is the sixth cyclist to have died on London’s roads this year.

Five of the six victims have been women, and HGVs have been involved in all of the collisions.

Police said the man driving the lorry stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

Investigators continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident.
