A Christmas Eve drivers’ walkout on the Central Line has been suspended, transport bosses have confirmed.
Passengers travelling for Christmas were set to face travel chaos after Tube drivers announced last-minute strike action on Thursday.
The walk-out was organised by the RMT union in a row over the dismissal of a fellow driver for “gross misconduct”.
Transport for London had warned passengers to leave in plenty of time as services are reduced over the entire line, which is the busiest line in the Tube network.
But on Thursday afternoon the strike was called off.
A TfL spokesman told the Standard: “The Central line will be running a full service as usual on Christmas Eve after the strike was suspended."
The walk-out was in response to the sacking of a driver who was found to put others at risk after passing a red signal.
As well as the reduced service on all of the lines, there was due to be no trains between White City and West Ruislip.
