Boy, eight, fighting for life after being hit by bus in Barnet

A child is fighting for his life after being hit by a bus while riding his bike in north London yesterday evening, police said.

The eight-year-old is in hospital with head and leg injuries after the crash with a route 184 bus in Barnet at around 8.15pm yesterday evening.

Police were called to the scene, in Chesterfield Road, and the boy was taken to hospital by paramedics.

A spokesman said: "The eight-year-old boy, who had been riding a bike, had suffered head and leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he remains. His injuries are currently described as life threatening."

The bus driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested, Scotland Yard said.
