Business is now a more 'level playing field' for women, says entrepreneur

A London entrepreneur has hailed the growing number of women going into business — saying there is now more of a “level playing field” than before.

Aneeqa Khan, 31, launched the company Eporta, which connects interior designers with independent furniture manufactures. This year she secured a £6 million boost to her firm, which has been described as the “Airbnb of interior design”.

Ms Khan said: “It is not as unusual any more to have women in business. There has been a shift — and business is more of a level playing field than before.”

Ms Khan is the cover star for business anthology 100 Stories Of Growth: How They Did It, which details stories of some of the country’s best-known brands.

On the book, she said: “It is really hard to access advice from people who have done it in a digestible way. This is great because it is storytelling.”

She added: “The more women we have being profiled, the better.”

Guy Tolhurst, the entrepreneur behind the 100 Stories Of Growth campaign and co-author of the book, said: “I wanted to create an empowering resource that inspires current and future entrepreneurs.”
